Matthew A. Knedel, MD

He specializes in both surgical and non-surgical treatment of hip and knee pain, including minimally invasive total hip and knee replacements and injections.

In 2011, Dr. Knedel spent a year in Chicago in an intensive adult joint reconstruction surgery fellowship program at the prestigious Rush Medical Center. He earned his medical degree from Keck School of Medicine at University of Southern California, then a general surgery internship at University of California, Los Angeles, followed by an orthopaedic surgery residency at University of California, San Francisco-Fresno.

Dr. Knedel says he chose to focus on orthopaedics because of the ability to improve people’s quality of life. “There are very few areas of medicine that allow you to provide such a dramatic improvement in quality of life,” he says. “Playing a part in a patient’s pain relief and improvement is the most rewarding aspect of my job and motivates me every day.”

During his free time, Dr. Knedel enjoys swimming, golf and spending time with family.

He is currently a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons and the Northern California Orthopaedic Society.

Russell R. Martin, MD

Dr. Martin provides care at Saint Agnes Care Advanced Robotics located at Saint Agnes Care Center – Northwest (4770 W. Herndon Ave., Suite #105). The phone number is (559) 450-2722.

Specializing in minimally invasive, robotic and laparoscopic surgery, Dr. Martin treats conditions such as colon cancer, hernias, and esophageal diseases, among others.

As a Central Valley native born and raised in Fresno, Dr. Martin is committed to providing the best care to members of his hometown community.

“I was born and raised in the Central Valley and I love Fresno,” he says. “I hope to bring the newest technology to my hometown with an ultimate goal to help decrease pain and the amount of incisions while increasing positive outcomes.”

Dr. Martin completed general surgery residency training at University of California San Francisco-Fresno and earned his medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, D.C. In addition, he has trained with physicians all over the country to learn the latest and most innovative robotic surgical techniques.

Before coming to Saint Agnes, Dr. Martin cared for patients at Valley Surgical Specialists in Fresno while concurrently serving as Assistant Medical Director of CAVA Robotics for robotic program diagnostics and team management in Great Barrington, Mass. He is also a proctor/speaker for Intuitive Surgical.

During his free time, Dr. Martin enjoys spending time with family. He is currently a member of the American College of Surgeons and the American Medical Association.
