It's time for your Medicare Annual Wellness Visit

Did you know, if you have Medicare Part B (Medical Insurance) you might qualify for an Annual Wellness Visit with your primary care provider at no cost to you?
Medicare Wellness visits are different you’re your regular physical. The Wellness exam is a more in-depth opportunity for your doctor to learn about your health and create a care plan that will help you live your healthiest life.
What to expect at a Medicare Annual Wellness visit
At your Medicare Annual Wellness Visit, you will be given a Health Risk Assessment. This and your medical history give your doctor an idea of your needs and helps them create and update a plan of prevention to keep you healthy and active. Your visit may include:
- Review or update of your health risk assessment.
- Discussion of your medical and family history
- Confirming your current prescriptions
- Measuring your height, weight, and blood pressure
- A check for signs of memory loss or dementia
- Developing a screening schedule for preventive service
Who is eligible?
To be eligible for a no out-of-pocket cost visit, you must meet these criteria:
- You are a Medicare Part B member
- You have not had a Medicare Annual Wellness Visit in the past 365 days
- You have not had a "Welcome to Medicare" visit in the past 365 days
It's important to remember that wellness exams are designed to address preventive care and maintain your health. They don't usually include a physical exam, and if you need additional testing or screening at the appointment, you may have a co-payment or additional cost.
