Clinical Research Center

It is the mission of Saint Agnes to improve the health of our community. We try to do that by providing access to new medical devices and drugs that can prevent or treat a disease or illness, save lives and improve health. These newer treatment options are the result of a long research process that includes careful development and testing by scientists, physicians, and technical specialists. This process can take several years before the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reviews and approves a new medical device or drug for widespread patient use.

The Clinical Research Center (CRC) at Saint Agnes partners with local physicians (research investigators) to bring innovative drug and device clinical research trials to the people of our community. Taking part in a clinical trial may be an option for some people. The CRC conducts Phase II, III, and IV industry-sponsored clinical trials, and National Cancer Institute (NCI)-sponsored studies in cancer.

The CRC provides system-wide oversight for all research activities at Saint Agnes. Some of the services we provide are:

  • Institutional Review Board (IRB) review
  • Investigator training in human subjects research, IRB policies, and institutional policies
  • Research study project management (e.g.., study planning, research subject
screening and management, data collection, and report preparation for to satisfy IRB and study sponsor requirements)
  • Budget & contract negotiation and Medicare coverage analysis
