Stroke Care
Stroke is the fifth-leading cause of death in the U.S. and the leading cause of serious, long-term disability. The innovation of diagnostic technologies, advanced treatment techniques and improved management of stroke risk factors have created new hope for persons who have had a stroke or who are at risk of having a stroke.
The Stroke Program at Saint Agnes is dedicated to providing care through evidence-based stroke protocols to ensure that you receive high quality care from the first point of contact.
Certified Stroke Center
As a certified Advanced Primary Stroke Center by The Joint Commission, Saint Agnes is one of more than 925 certified primary stroke centers in 48 states. While many centers are concerned mainly with managing acute stroke, the members of our program also place a strong emphasis on the prevention of future strokes by ensuring that you receive the proper medications and education necessary to make the lifestyle changes that will decrease your risks.
TeleStroke
Stroke telemedicine, or TeleStroke, is a service that allows stroke patients and their nurses to connect with neurologists remotely through a high-speed internet, videoconferencing platform. Neurologists are able to assess the patient's physical symptoms and ask questions of the patient, doctors and nurses to prescribe the appropriate treatment in real-time.
