About Volunteering

Volunteers are a very important part of the Saint Agnes team and are deeply appreciated by the staff and physicians they support. By donating a few hours of your time, you can make a positive difference in the lives of many.

Saint Agnes volunteers help to provide that "personal touch" to patients and visitors, while assisting hospital staff in a variety of ways. In return, our volunteers enjoy the deep satisfaction that comes from helping those in need, making new connections, and a sense of belonging.

In November 1953, four friends got together over a game of bridge and began discussing ways they could help the then Saint Agnes Hospital. Before the game concluded, the Saint Agnes Service Guild was born. Within four months, 35 charter members were recruited and the Guild held its first fundraiser, donating $400 to benefit the hospital's new maternity wing.

As Saint Agnes' needs have grown, so has the volunteer program. In the last year, the Service Guild donated more than 46,000 hours of service. Above and beyond its gift of time, it donated $65,000 to help purchase new bedside tables and equipment for the Surgical Services department, establish a lounge for new physician residents, and support the Heavenly Hounds program. The Guild also supports the educational efforts of its Junior Volunteers and, together with Saint Agnes Medical Staff, the Saladino Family Foundation, and Saint Agnes Men’s Club, awarded ten high school students a total of $17,000 in scholarships.

We are always eager to have dedicated individuals become part of our volunteer program.
