Nurse Residency Program
The Saint Agnes Nurse Residency is an accredited academic program designed to support newly licensed registered nurses in their transition from advanced beginner to competent professional nurse – all while working full time.
The residency program is part of the Vizient/American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Nurse Residency Program. Our program uses an evidence-based curriculum that includes educational material on leadership, quality outcomes and professional role development. In addition, nurse residents will participate in researching and implementing an evidence-based practice project designed to improve patient outcomes.
This year-long program includes a weeklong skills review, clinical experience, and in-person class sessions. Monthly class sessions focus on developing leadership, professional development, and the completion of an evidence-based practice project.
The goals of the Nurse Residency Program:
- Develop critical thinking and clinical judgment
- Improve self-confidence in patient management decision-making
- Develop knowledge and skills in safety and quality patient centered care
- Integrate the nurse resident into a professional career as a life-long learner
