Sub-I Rotation: What to Expect

  • Rotation is over a four (4) week block*
  • Shifts are 8 hours and students will have the opportunity to work morning, night, and swing shifts
  • Students are expected to attend weekly didactics with the EM Residency program and are highly encouraged to participate in other residency activities such as Journal Club
  • At the end of the rotation, students are asked to present during didactics on an interesting case or topic with slides for 10 minutes
  • If the student is interested, we will connect them with the local air ambulance company for an air ambulance shift (optional)

Tips for Success

  1. Be proactive and on time
  2. Work directly with attendings and senior EM residents.
  3. Listen out for the radio calls to learn about in-bound stat cases and to get involved once they arrive
  4. Be an active participant on Wednesday conference days. Sit up front, ask questions. We welcome the enthusiasm.
  5. Reach out and ask questions

*Ultrasound rotation is two (2) weeks
