Compensation and Benefits
Annual Stipend
Residents in the Graduate Medical Education Program will have a signed annual (renewable) resident training contract with Saint Agnes Medical Center. Stipends are based on market and cost of living increases.

Note: Chief residents receive an approximate additional $150 stipend per month ($69.23 bi-weekly) and co-chief resident assignments are compensated at appropriate prorated amounts. However, chief residents at levels beyond standard length of training, i.e. PG-4s in Internal Medicine, receive regular PG-level pay as appropriate and do not receive the additional stipend.
Benefits
Benefits are covered beginning the first day of employment and include, but are not limited to, medical insurance, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, long term disability, life insurance and AD&D, professional liability insurance, retirement and adoption assistance.
Education Reimbursement
Residents and fellows are eligible for $1,500 reimbursement for education expenses.
Meal Stipend
Residents and fellows receive $1,600 annually in meal badge funds which can be used at the hospital One Main Café, Cyber Café, and Plaza Deli.
Leaves
Absences may affect the amount of time credited for training. Additional training may be required by a specific specialty Board or the Residency Review Committee (RRC) if established limits are exceeded. Residents should discuss the possible impact with their program director prior to planning leave time.
Vacation
Residents will receive twenty days (20) of paid vacation per academic year. Time off will be set into the resident/fellow master schedule prior to the start of each academic year. All time off requests will be reviewed, approved, and documented by the GME Program leadership and is subject to the Accountability Policy.
Educational Days
Five (5) additional days of educational paid time off are offered each academic year and will be in addition to vacation time listed above. These days do not roll over from year to year and must be approved by both the Program Director and the DGME prior to March 1 of each year. Please see Program Coordinator for details.
- Medical, Parental, and Caregiver Leave
Six (6) weeks of approved medical, parental, and caregiver leave(s) of absence for qualifying reasons may be taken once at any time during the educational program. Residents will be provided 100% of salary and benefits during this leave, which will include two of the three allowable weeks of vacation leave for that year. Residents may not use all 3 weeks of vacation for this leave and must take one week of vacation at a different time during that training year.
Onsite Childcare
From Infants to Pre-Kindergarten (6-weeks to 6 years old), Saint Agnes Child Development Center is specially designed to expand children's intellect, creativity, social skills and problem-solving capabilities. With an experienced staff of childcare professionals, many of whom have been teaching at the Center since it first opened, parents can trust that their little ones are in the most capable and caring hands.
